Cisco 6871
Bolt-in to LightningArrows Voice · Already multiplatform (3PCC) — no conversion license

Old and surplus Cisco 6871 handsets can get a real second life on multiplatform SIP — same Desk Voice path as our 8851 demo ($0.25/day class pricing).

Cisco 6871 on LightningArrows Voice

Engage. Execute. Deploy. — reuse good hardware instead of buying throwaway softphone-only setups.

This page mirrors our 8851 demo path for the 6871. Official convertibility for 78xx/88xx comes from Cisco’s Enterprise↔MPP guide (eligible device tables).

Hardware

Field Value
Series 6800
Enterprise PID (used CUCM sets) — (native MPP only)
Multiplatform PID CP-6871-3PCC-K9=
Firmware family sip68xx MPP loads
Typical lines / keys ~6 (varies by KEM / config)
Role Desk phone on Ethernet (PoE or brick)
Conversion license Native MPP — no E2M license

Native MPP color display set. Third-party SIP ready when on MPP firmware.

Why MPP/3PCC? Enterprise firmware is built for CUCM. Multiplatform firmware speaks standard SIP, so it can register to LightningArrows Voice (Asterisk-class PBX) or other ITSPs.

How to tell what you have

  1. Flip the phone — read the PID on the sticker.
  2. …-3PCC-K9 / 3PC / 3PW → already multiplatform.
  3. …-K9 without 3PCC → enterprise → convert before LA Voice.
  4. On the set: Information and settings ≈ MPP; Applications ≈ often enterprise.

Network (same pattern as 8851)

Field Suggested
Port Network/SW (PoE switch or injector / brick)
IP Static or DHCP reservation
DNS Required (router + optional 8.8.8.8) — blank DNS breaks license fetch and SIP
Web UI https://PHONE_IP on the same LAN

Optional: PC/Mac in the PC pass-through port on many desk models.

Path to dial tone

[1] Network OK (IP + DNS)
[2] MPP firmware (native 3PCC or E2M convert)
[3] Order Desk Voice / Office Voice
[4] Ext 1 SIP or Profile Rule URL
[5] Status = Registered
[6] e911 address before real outbound
[7] DID optional

Conversion license

Not required. 6800 multiplatform phones are ordered/used as 3PCC/MPP. They do not flip from CUCM enterprise firmware via L-CP-E2M-*.

If the set is somehow still not speaking standard SIP, confirm Product Name shows 3PCC and load current MPP firmware from Cisco.

Consumer checklist

  • Confirm model 6871 and PID (enterprise vs 3PCC)
  • Phone has LAN IP + DNS
  • Web UI opens
  • MAC recorded (sticker / status)
  • MPP ready (convert if needed)
  • Desk Voice ordered
  • Ext 1 or provision URL set
  • Registered
  • e911 collected
